How Often Should You Wash a Home Near the Beach?

For vinyl and stucco siding, once a year keeps mold and algae from building up to the point where it's visible from the street or starts eating into the surface. That's our real recommendation, not a sales number.
The exception
Cedar siding needs twice a year
Cedar holds moisture differently than vinyl or stucco, and it shows mold and mildew faster. If your home has cedar siding, plan on a wash roughly every six months instead of once a year.
Why it's not the same everywhere
Salt air and humidity are doing the work
Coastal Sussex County stays humid most of the year, and salt air holds onto moisture on a surface longer than dry inland air does. That's the same combination that grows algae on a roof. It's why a home a few blocks from the beach needs washing more often than the same house would inland.
